Ressourceneffiziente Siedlungsstruktur im globalen SÜDEN
Die heutige Urbanisierung ist ein Phänomen, das mit den Ländern des globalen Südens, insbesondere mit China, Indien und Afrika, in Verbindung gebracht wird. Diese Regionen sind durch schnelles Wachstum und begrenzte Lenkung dieser Prozesse (Governance) gekennzeichnet, was zu zwei Hauptproblemen führt. Erstens verwehrt die eingeschränkte Governance der peripheren Entwicklung grundlegende Annehmlichkeiten, was zu slumartigen Entwicklungen und Zersiedelung führt. Zweitens führt die begrenzte Fähigkeit zu dezentraler Entwicklung zu einer weiteren Konzentration in den großen Städten und damit zur Überlastung städtischer Infrastrukturen. Ein solcher Entwicklungstrend beeinflusst die urbane Umwelt, indem er von Menschen verursachte und natürliche Katastrophen verstärkt. Vor diesem Hintergrund zielt diese Untersuchung darauf ab, am Beispiel Indiens die Charakteristika des städtischen Wachstums zu erkennen und zu beschreiben. Dieses Projekt leistet in zweifacher Hinsicht einen Beitrag zur Stadtforschung: Erstens belegt es die Relevanz des Mixed-Methods-Ansatzes für das Verständnis der Eigenheiten von Wachstum. Zweitens leitet es evidenzbasierte Policy-Reformen ab, um eine nachhaltige Entwicklung zu erreichen und einige reale Probleme zu lösen.
