Making spatial knowledge freely accessible

The journal “Raumforschung und Raumordnung | Spatial Research and Planning (RuR),” published by oekom and co-edited by the IOER, is taking the next step on its golden path of publication practice. From 2026, it will be published as a Diamond Open Access journal.

Diamond Open Access (OA) means that publications or publication platforms are accessible free of charge to all interested parties worldwide; authors do not incur any costs for publication. Diamond OA thus consistently implements the Open Access concept. This allows all researchers to share their knowledge free of charge and all those with a professional interest to participate in this knowledge. Publication decisions are based solely on professional quality standards; no one is prevented from actively participating in (inter)national scientific discourse for financial reasons. Diamond Open Access thus focuses on the circular transfer of knowledge without commercial barriers.
