Expert Workshop in Hanoi Vietnam

on the topic:
"Environmental and land use planning in Hanoi as a contribution to sustainable urban development"
30. October 2010

Against the background of the large need for research on land use and environmental planning for the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi the Leibniz Institute of Ecological and Regional Development (IOER) and the Hanoi University of Science as the two main partners want to organize an expert workshop in Hanoi on the topic "Environmental and land use planning in Hanoi as a contribution to sustainable urban development". The efforts are undertaken together with other Vietnamese partners, amongst others the Institute of Geography of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Vietnam Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources. The workshop aims at identifying problems and urgent questions in environmental and land use planning in Hanoi. As a result, a corporate research project on urban and regional development is meant to be developed.

The workshop is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research under the "German Year in Vietnam 2010" framework program with the focus on "City of the Future – Future of the City".
