The objective of the project is to provide a social and innovative platform on cultural tourism to enable local, national and European research and development actors, stakeholders and policy-makers within Europe to develop an understanding of the challenges and opportunities for research, action and further progress in the context of reflective societies.

The SPOT project is aiming to enrich the scientific evidence base for understanding the potential for cultural tourism to contribute to greater cohesion within European countries. It intends to determine and promote good practices in the cultural heritage field with multilevel cultural, environmental and social development. In doing so, we are supporting a greater understanding of the challenges facing different types of cultural tourism and cultural landscapes in European countries. The project will address both less attractive/disadvantaged and highly attractive/advantaged places across Europe through comparative case study analysis; the German case study area is Lusatia (Lausitz).
