"Living the City" - Exhibition in Berlin-Tempelhof shows contributions from the "Testing the City" project of the IZS

Until 20 December the exhibition "Living the City" can be seen in the former airport Berlin-Tempelhof. The exhibition about cities, people and stories also presents contributions from the "Testing the City – Living and Working in Görlitz" project, a project which was implemented in Görlitz by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Ecological and Revitalizing Urban Transformation (IZS) and its local partners.

Please note!
Due to the current infection regulation of the City of Berlin, the exhibition will close on November 2 and will not be open to the public until the end of the exhibition period. But Living the City can still be experienced - with a virtual city collage, guided film tours and project recommendations by the curatorial team, as well as recordings and digital events from the supporting program.

Until 20 December, the former Berlin-Tempelhof airport is a venue for city life. The exhibition "Living the City" tells over 50 stories from architecture, art and urban planning projects. It shows processes and Opportunities for action in cities across Europe. In a walk-through urban collage, visitors encounter a range of stories from people and projects that are actively involved in the city and civic society.

These stories ask questions concerning fundamental activities like loving, living, moving, making, participating, learning, playing, and dreaming in the city. The exhibition brings together contributions from more than 70 participants from 20 countries.

"Testing the City" project in photographs and quotations

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Ecological and Revitalizing Urban Transformation (IZS) in Görlitz also contributed to the exhibition. Since 2018, the IZS team has been implementing the project "Testing the City - Living and Working in Görlitz" in cooperation with local partners. From January 2019 to March 2020, more than 50 people tested life in Görlitz for four weeks at a time. One of the participants in the project was Nikolas Fabian Kammerer, a photographer from Leipzig. Photographs that he took during his stay in Görlitz can now be seen in the exhibition "Living the City" as well as in the exhibition catalogue. The photographs are supplemented by quotations from other participants in the "Testing the City" project.
