Dr. Martina Artmann from IOER Appointed TUD Young Investigator

Since 2015 Martina Artmann has been working as a postdoctoral researcher at the IOER and conducts research on urban human-environmental interactions. Another project, funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG), focuses on Edible Cities.

In addition, Martina Artmann was successful with her project proposal "Urban human-nature resonance for sustainability transformation (URBNANCE)" in the competition of the Leibniz Association 2020. With funding from the Leibniz Competition, she is now setting up a Leibniz Junior Research Group at the IOER. Over the next five years, this group of three young scientists will investigate how close links between human and nature in cities can help to promote sustainability transformation to protect the natural environment.

As head of this junior research group, Dr. Martina Artmann now also has the opportunity to supervise the dissertations in the group at the TU Dresden itself - thanks to the status of "TUD Young Investigator". This status enables excellent, independent junior group leaders at the science hub Dresden a stronger integration into the faculties of the TUD and includes, among other things, individual qualification offers. The title is awarded for a limited period of time and was introduced as part of the implementation of the Institutional Strategy at the TU Dresden.

Mentoring is also a part of the TUD Young Investigator program. Martina Artmann is mentored by Prof. Judith Miggelbrink, Chair of Human Geography at the TUD, and Prof. Marc Wolfram, Chair of Spatial Development at TUD and director of the IOER.
