Student /Research assistant (m/f/d)

From a scientific point of view, the IÖR deals with questions of sustainable landscape, regional and urban development. The field of spatial planning is of particular importance.

Project "Urban Rural Assembly" (WP5 Ecosystem) aims to record and mapping the changes in ecosystems and green spaces in the urban-rural continuum of the Huangyan-Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province, China. Therefore, a suitable longitudinal landscape section (transect) will be conducted and coordinated with all partners of the consortium. Besides that, in close consultation with the other WPs, an initial concept for the further development of a GIS-based working tool for inter- and trans-disciplinary work and implementation will be developed.

The following activities are to be undertaken within this framework:

  • searching for the open resource of GIS data for research
  • Satellite image interpretation
  • research on conference concepts
  • assessment of ecosystem services using ArcGIS and relevant models (such as InVEST)
  • support for conference, workshops and field surveys


  • Interest in scientific work and spatial development and planning
  • good skills of GIS and Remote sensing
  • confident handling of MS Office (especially Word and Excel)
  • independent and organized way of working
  • good knowledge of English (speaking and writing)
  • experience in China or Chinese language will be an advantage
  • Studies (Bachelor, Master, Dipl.)
